Cafecitos Nose Past Gothenburg, 3-2

Gothenburg got a terrific performance from pitcher Franz Schiegl, but it wasn't enough to beat the Las Palmas Cafecitos. Las Palmas won the Volvo Stadium contest, 3-2. Schiegl threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Kelby Zemla picked up the win in relief for Las Palmas, while Rónan McLoughlin took the loss. The victory gives the Cafecitos a record of 12-10.
Las Palmas used the bat of Jim Unknown to get the win. The left fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cafecitos ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
After the game, Las Palmas manager applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
