Monarchs Beat Visiting Luchadores, 9-2
|
Monarchs center fielder William Porchianelo put his stamp on his team's 9-2 win over the Valencia Luchadores. Porchianelo went 2-3 with a home run, a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs for Vatican City in the contest. Picking up the win was Jehan Fagerberg. He went 5.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. The right--hander struck out 4 and walked 3. Valencia falls to 9-8.
In the bottom of the first, second baseman Alf Wegraeus hit a run-scoring double to left. The double, which was hit off of Odin Axelsen, gave Vatican City a 2-1 lead.
Said losing manager JJ Williams: "Give the Monarchs credit. They took advantage of our mistakes."
