Horsemen Turn Back Spurs, 3-1

Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Alkmaar Spurs home opener. Laurits Hansen started for the home team against Abdul Hansson for the Gronigen Horsemen. The Spurs were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 3-1, Gronigen. Laurits Hansen, though, was impressive. Abdul Hansson went 5.1 innings for Gronigen to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 1 run. He scattered 3 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 5. His record improves to 1-0. Stuart Homer collected his 1st save.
Gronigen used a well-timed hit by Teodor Brezina to capture the win. The right fielder socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the third inning to put the Horsemen ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Brezina told the Gronigen Today. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
