Mallards Get Clonked by Legends, 8-6

Taras Averkin did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Foggia Mallards from losing, 8-6, to the Kilkenny Legends at Legends Stadium. Averkin was 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Kilkenny reliever Phil Murray picked up the win, raising his record to 1-1. Kelly Hamers was tagged with the loss. Erlend Petersen sewed up the save, his 1st.
Dag Krogh went 2-5 with 2 singles for Kilkenny. The 15-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Kelly Hamers. It was his 9th RBI of the season.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Krogh.
Foggia drops to 5-5.
