Dundee Survives Pais Heroics, Beats Engineers, 9-8
|
Blackpool left fielder Quim Pais was sensational. He belted 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Dundee beat the Engineers, 9-8. Patrick Christensen, now 1-0, was credited with the win. He allowed 2 runs on 2 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 1. Uuno Riksman picked up the save for Dundee, his 3rd of the year.
Markus Andreassen had a big 3-run home run for the Mad Dogs in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Dundee trailing 8-6 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Cathmor Foley and swatted a home run to left. It was his 3rd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mad Dogs ahead, 9-8.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Andreassen said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The defeat makes Blackpool 2-6.
