Unicorns Hold Off Fire, 4-3
|
Fire Park was the site of the home opener for the Thessaloniki Fire. The contest featured a prime matchup between Maxime Bazin of the visiting St. Gallen Unicorns and Daniel Gil of the Fire. The final score was 4-3, the Unicorns getting the win. Erhan Saffet turned in the best performance. Caoimhín Kent, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
With the clubs tied 0-0 in the top of the second and a runner on 2nd, second baseman Loman Kelly hit a 2-run home run.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Thessaloniki manager . "But we decided not to take it."
