Dragons Continue Hot Streak with Extra-Inning Win
|
The Aberdeen Dragons bested the Limerick Gold Hearts by a score of 12-6, with second baseman Oliver Hirt getting the main credit. On the day, Hirt went 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 3 for the Dragons. Jim Unknown picked up the win in relief for Aberdeen, while Jim Unknown took the loss. The Dragons, now 12-3, have hit the ground running this season.
There were several reasons the Dragons beat the Gold Hearts, but one factor was Jim Unknown. In the top of the 11th, the Aberdeen left fielder came to bat and hit a run-scoring double. It staked his team to a 7-6 lead.
"It's a satisfying feeling, to win like we did," said Hirt.
